Nick Nuttall is director of communications and spokesperson for the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Bonn, Germany. He took up the post in January 2014 after nearly 13 years with the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) in Nairobi, Kenya.
He played a key role in the strategic communications for UNEP’s Green Economy initiative and boosted UNEP’s media profile. He also launched high profile campaigns including Think Eat Save-Reduce Your Foodprint!, which links global food waste to environmental degradation and the lives of ordinary people.
At the UNFCCC Nick leads a team of communications specialists supporting UNFCCC executive secretary Patricia Espinosa and managing the organisation’s media, internet, speechwriting, social media and campaigns output. Nick is a member of the UNFCCC’s management team. He is a regular keynote speaker; lecturer at environmental and climate related conferences and a Guest Professor on sustainability communications at the University of Tonji in China and has appeared on many major news channels including the BBC, China Central TV and Al Jazeera.
This is Nick’s fourth year as chair of our judges’ panel.
